The Tati Solar Project

A Brighter Future for Botswana

Project Overview

The Tati Solar Project represents Botswana's inaugural venture into large-scale solar energy production. The energy generated from the power plant shall be sold through the competitive markets of the South Africa Power Pool (SAPP) and via bilateral agreements with other off-takers. The SAPP serves 12 countries and over 360 million people and businesses across Southern Africa, offering a rapidly growing market due to population growth, improved grid access, and the decommissioning of carbon-intensive generation facilities.

Our project aligns with the SAPP's objectives, which include fostering a competitive electricity market, offering end-users a choice of electricity supplier, attracting energy-intensive users to the region, and ensuring sustainable energy developments through sound economic, environmental, and social practices.

The facility will be located on 160 hectares of land approximately 25 km south-east of Francistown in the North-eastern region of Botswana, between the villages of Matsiloje and Matshelagabedi.
